Parish Post – September 14, 2017

A MESSAGE FOR PRESIDING BISHOP MICHAEL CURRY:

Presiding Bishop Michael Curry shared with us this week his thoughts on recent national and international events that have affected so many. He reminds us that we cannot solve everything and we cannot do everything. But we can do something, no matter what. Click on this sentence for the Presiding Bishop’s video message to us.

HAPPENING THIS SUNDAY AT ST. THOMAS:

West Virginia Day of Hope

The West Virginia Day of Hope is Sunday, September 17, 2017.  Our diocese has given us a special litany that we will include in our Prayers of the People on Sunday.  The diocese also shared information about the 2017 West Virginia Day of Hope from the West Virginia Council of Churches.

No Youth Church

This Sunday there will be no Youth Church.  This is per parent input that sometimes Youth Church-aged children should be going into the sanctuary for mass.

Volunteer Needed in Nursery

A volunteer is needed to help Tyler in the Nursery this Sunday.  If you are able to assist her, please contact me in the office (thomasabecket.WV@gmail.com).

Sincerely,

Linda Yost

NEW VOLUNTEER LIBRARIAN NEEDED

After initiating and tending to the “Browse and Buy” bookshelves in the library, Joyce Smyth is retiring.  She started her work with the Rev. Dorothy Brown (one of our previous rectors) and has continued to shelve and care for the donated books and the donated dollars. The monies collected go to the Church Periodical Club, which helps seminarians purchase books.  We are searching for someone to continue this ministry. More details will be in our October newsletter. If you may be interested in volunteering, please contact Linda Yost in the church office (thomasabecket.wv@gmail.com).
