Parish Post – August 15, 2019

Dear Parish Family and Friends,

Awesome work was done by the Youth Group and Jason Robbins at this past Saturday’s Pahl Trail Work Day. They are planning some fall bulb planting, as well as additional work days to continue the clearing process. They need many strong bodies to help complete the project!

Please join us Sunday, August 25 for Rally Day, which will take place between services from 9:15 – 10:15 in the Parish Hall. This is a gathering to introduce and kick off new spiritual formation offerings for children, youth (grades 6-12), and adults every Sunday morning from 9:15 – 10:15 am starting in September.

Our whole life is given over for service in and for the Church of God. This is to be done in thanksgiving for what God in Christ has accomplished for us. This is our spiritual worship, the reasonable response to what He has done for us–not one for the other, but all in  all.

Women of the Diocese are asked to hold the dates of September 20-22 open for the Women’s Conference, sponsored by Diocesan Women’s Ministries. The theme of the retreat is “Graced,” led by  The Rev. Dr. Cynthia Byers Walter. The weekend conference will take place at Peterkin in Romney. Check out the brochure for more information.

Presiding Bishop Michael Curry is coming to Wheeling, WV to join in celebrating the 200th anniversary of the founding of St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church. Bishop Curry invites us to join him in The Way of Love.
Tickets are available here for the October 5th event.
There is limited seating for October 6th. Contact St. Matthew’s for tickets. More information is available here.

Update: Saint Matthew’s will be privileged to have Presiding Bishop Curry as our guest preacher on Sunday, Oct 6 at 10:30 am.  We have seating for a little more than 100 available in the sanctuary. There are also 32 seats in the balcony in the rear of the sanctuary.  You will need to be physically fit to climb the stairs to sit there. We would like people to form themselves into groups of four if possible as each section of our pews seats four. If you would like to reserve one of these seats for the service please contact Mary Paull, our parish administrator, at 304-233-0133.  She is typically in the office from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm, Monday through Friday.
